Where We’ll Be Staying: Slottsskogen Hostel

We’ll be staying at the Slottsskogen Hostel, and trust me—it’s a fantastic spot! It’s super clean and comfortable, a great location and many students say it’s like staying in an Ikea showroom (how cool is that? 😄).

The location couldn’t be better! We’re just 8 minutes by tram to downtown (or a 1.8-mile walk if you're feeling adventurous).

2 supermarkets – for all your snack and grocery needs!
Over 10 restaurants – ranging from Italian and pizza to Thai, American, Swedish, Himalayan, and Sushi.
Loads of little shops to explore.
Awesome coffee shops for your caffeine fix.

Dry cleaner (they even have washers/dryers at the hostel).
3 main tram stops nearby.
And, of course, we’re right next to Slottsskogen Nature Park (more on that below!).

Room setup: Most rooms are 2 people per room, though in some cases, there’ll be 3 per room in a room for 4.

Bonus: They have a Swedish sauna for ultimate relaxation after a busy day. (So pack your bathing suit!) The sauna can host up to 8 persons, and you will find showers, benches and two beach chairs in the resting area.

Plus they have a pool table.

Slottsskogen Park – Right Next Door!

The hostel is right next to Slottsskogen Park, a massive 300-acre park that’s perfect for walking or jogging. It’s Gothenburg’s main park, and it even has its own zoo with elks, Gotland ponies, sheep, and other Nordic animals. There are also plenty of beautiful walking/running paths, a peaceful pond, and a café to enjoy the scenery.
