Costs & Details About the Trip
Nope! In fact, I highly encourage non-business majors to sign up. Every year, we have students from all different majors, and they absolutely love the experience. Don’t just take my word for it—check out the student reactions video and hear it straight from them! 🎥Sweden J Term Trip Student Comments - YouTube
Believe it or not, it’s usually warmer in Gothenburg than in Kenosha! Since the city is on the coast, the sea helps regulate the temperature (think Boston or New York weather). The average January temperature in Gothenburg is 34°F, while in Kenosha, it’s around 28°F.
No worries—we’ve got you covered! As part of the class, we’ll have a half-day workshop where we go over exactly what to pack, so you’ll be fully prepared.
This course counts as an IP (International Perspectives) course.
The total cost is $2,950, and it covers almost everything:
✅ Round-trip airfare and airport transfers
✅ Lodging (shared rooms)
✅ Most meals (breakfast every morning + most dinners)
✅ All scheduled activities, tours, and entertainment
✅ Unlimited public transportation pass (bus, tram, ferry)
What’s NOT included?
I used to work for ABB Robotics and spent 2 years working in Gothenburg. I still have strong connections and great friends there. Plus, after traveling and working in 25+ countries, I can confidently say that Gothenburg is one of my favorite cities—it’s clean, safe, fun, and full of amazing experiences!
Well, you’ll have to come and find out! But I can tell you this—every single student who has gone on this trip falls in love with the city. Some have even gone back on their own in the summer!
That depends on your spending habits.
💰 Minimal spenders: Around $100 (for drinks, snacks, and small souvenirs).
🛍️ Big shoppers: Some students have spent $750+ on gifts (including plenty for themselves!).
For most people, $200–$300 is a good amount to budget.
Swedes are polite, friendly, and welcoming. Some say they can seem a little reserved at first, but a simple "Hello" or a smile is usually all it takes to break the ice.
Nope! Almost everyone in Sweden speaks English fluently—sometimes even better than we do! 😂 Swedes learn English as a second language in school, so you’ll have no trouble communicating.
Since Gothenburg is a coastal city, seafood is a big deal—and it’s incredible! Many students who weren’t big on seafood before the trip fell in love with it after trying the fresh, high-quality dishes. Gothenburg is also gaining a reputation for its world-class cuisine, with several famous chefs coming from the city. And of course, you have to try the Swedish meatballs!
